If you are currently on a skincare routine that contains products recommended by one of our skincare professionals at Radiance, you are already off to a great start maximizing and then maintaining the results of your aesthetic treatments!

Many people place great importance on regular facials, chemical peels, and laser treatments.  Don’t get us wrong, those services are incredibly important for preventive care. However, homecare and making sure you have a solid skincare routine in between treatments is key to protecting your investment and making sure that your skin stays looking fabulous!

It’s not just about using the right products at home, it’s also about the order in which you use them! Let our guide help you to correctly order your skincare products for optimal results!

Step 1: Cleanse (AM/PM)

Cleansing is a very important part of your skincare routine, especially at night. You want to make sure that you clean your face of all of your makeup, dirt, oil, and bacteria that most likely built up on your skin throughout the day. Cleansing before bed is essential to preventing clogged pores and breakouts. If you have oily or acneic skin, SkinMedica AHA/BHA Cleanser is a great exfoliating cleanserCleansing in the morning is important too because while we sleep, our skin can produce  oil. We recommend using a gentle cleanser in the morning like the Radiance Rx Gentle Cleanser to prevent drying out your skin.

Step 2: Serums (PM)

Serums are a huge component in protecting your investment in between injectable and skincare services. Your serums may vary. You may be using a growth factor such as the SkinMedica TNS Advanced Serum+, a Hyaluronic Acid like the SkinMedica HA5, A brightening serum like the SkinMedica Lytera, or a specific serum like the Radiance Rx Neck Correct. No matter what serums you are incorporating into your current routine, they should be applied after you cleanse your skin.

Step 3: Eye cream (PM)

Eye creams are essential in preventing under-eye wrinkles and bags and treating dark circles.  Eye creams should be applied after serums in your routine. Some of our favorite eye creams are the SkinMedica Instant Bright, the SkinMedica TNS Eye Repair, and the Radiance Rx Radiant Eye Cream

Step 4: Retinol (PM)

If your aesthetician recommends retinol, it would be the next product to apply. Retinol routines vary from person to person depending on the strength of the retinol that you’re using and the tolerance your skin has to it. Retinol should be applied at night.  Most aestheticians will recommend using retinol only once or twice a week to start and then slowly build up to everyday use.

Step 5: Moisturizer (AM/PM)

There are two types of moisturizers; hyaluronic acid that draws water into the skin (SkinMedical HA5) and emollient type moisturizers that prevent epidermal water loss (Radiance Rx Nightime Reset and SkinMedical TNS Ceramide Cream).

Step 6: Sun Protection (AM)

Sun protection is a non-negotiable!  It should be applied in the morning and may need to be reapplied in the case of excessive sweating or water exposure.  SPF in makeup is not enough as it wears off.  There are two types of sun protection. Sun block contains  Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide and acts like thousands of tiny little mirrors reflecting UV rays from the skin.  Sunscreen contains chemicals that neutralized the UV rays.

No matter where you are going or what season it is, your unprotected skin can be damaged by sun exposure. Never forget to apply your sun protection before you start putting on your makeup. Some great sun protection options include the SkinMedica Total Defense + Repair and the Radiance Rx Sun Shield
